Book Class Trips

Lorraine Kimsa Theatre For Young People is dedicated to child development and education through the art of live theatre. For 40 years educators have chosen LKTYP as a key component in addressing their curriculum and character development requirements by bringing classes to our outstanding, professional productions. Each season we ensure our plays address significant areas of the curriculum including music, language, equity, social studies, health/physical education and drama. As well, through our Education and Participation Department we offer comprehensive Study Guides, hands-on Student Workshops, and professional development programmes for teachers. We encourage you to consider a visit to our theatre as you plan your activities for the school year.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

We are unable to accept tentative bookings. Cancellations will be accepted up to two business days after the order was placed. Should you need to post-pone your school booking, we will make every reasonable effort to rebook your group into the same production on a different date. Should no suitable date be found, a performance of an alternate production may be selected within the current season, pending availability.

LKTYP is a registered children's charity and, as such, is unable to provide refunds.

Wish List

The Wish List Program enables schools in low and mixed-income areas to attend productions at LKTYP by offering a limited number of "rush" discounted tickets. Qualified schools submitting a completed Wish List form will be contacted approximately three weeks before their requested show dates and informed of the price and availability (discounts and availability vary per show).

CHANGES TO BOOKINGS

LKTYP endeavors to be as accommodating as possible. The teacher who initiated the booking is responsible for managing any changes to the order, which must be made by speaking directly with an LKTYP box office staff member on the phone or in person. (Emailed or voice mailed changes will not be accepted.) Bookings may be reduced by no more than 50% of your original order, and therefore the school and/or individual who made the booking is financially responsible for providing a minimum payment of 50%, regardless of the number of students that actually attend the performance. Reductions in the number of individuals attending must be made by no more that four weeks before the date of your performance. We will not accept reductions in numbers after this time and the school or individual who made the booking is responsible for providing payment for the number of purchased tickets on the invoice. Excessive alterations to bookings are subject to an administration fee of 10% of the value of the total order.

SEATING

LKTYP does not issue individual tickets for school bookings. The invoice is your ticket. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to special needs. Please inform box office staff directly of any students with special needs or requiring wheelchair seating. If there are any changes to a booking with special needs students — either additional students or fewer students — you must call Box Office staff and inform them prior to your performance date so that Front of House Staff is prepared to meet the needs of your students.

LATE ARRIVALS

Out of consideration for the audience, latecomers will be seated only when and if there is an appropriate break in the show. There is no guaranteed seating of latecomers. In the case of unexpected delays in arrival time, please call box office @ 416.862.2222 to inform them of your estimated time of arrival.

Inclement weather POLICY

If a school group is unable to attend a performance due to a snow storm or weather conditions that jeopardize transportation or result in school closures, every effort will be made to book you into another performance. Only if our performance is cancelled due to weather, fire, electrical or other insurmountable impediment will refunds be made.
